Maas Flatbread

Maas Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup maas
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a big bowl add the flour, salt and baking powder. Stir to combine the ingredients.
  • Then add the maas and the vegetable oil. You can now use your hands or a KitchenAid with the hook attachment to mix everything together.
  • Once you have formed a nice dough, knead it for a couple of minutes until smooth. Then shape it into a ball and pop it back into the bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or some plastic wrap and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Take the dough out and then press it down onto a floured surface before cutting it into 8 equal wedges. Shape each one into a golf ball-sized dough ball and set them aside.
  • Lightly grease a pan then place it on the stove over a medium heat. Roll each dough ball out using a rolling pin so that they form mini-flatbreads. Then place each one, one at a time, into the hot pan.
  • Cook for about 40 seconds, then flip it and leave it to cook for about 1 minute before flipping it again. You will see air bubbles in the dough.
  • When the flatbread has some nice golden marks on it, it’s ready to come out.
  • You can serve them with a variety of toppings, like cream cheese, pan-fried cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, salt and pepper. Enjoy!
