Does the milk we buy contain antibiotics?
In South Africa, milk meant for human consumption has to comply with the stipulations set out in the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act. Although the dairy industry has highly sensitive test regimes and upholds a zero tolerance towards antibiotics and antimicrobial substances, the law does allow a certain level of antibiotic residue deemed to be safe for consumption.
