- Do cows get a break from milking?
All cows will have ‘dry’ period of at about 60 days after producing milk for the preceding 305 days.
The dry period is very important in the production cycle of the cow. This period allows the cow’s body to recover and prepare for the next lactation. The dry period should therefore be seen as the beginning of a new lactation cycle rather than the end of the previous one.
