The Dairy Industry Structure within South Africa

Milk SA

milksa logo Milk SA is a voluntary, non-profit company set up to promote the development of the dairy industry. Its members are MPO and SAMPRO. Milk SA administers regulations implemented in terms of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, 1996 (amended). In terms of regulations, Milk SA deals with consumer education as a strategic issue.

Milk SA, founded in 2002, addresses the needs of the entire dairy industry of South Africa – as agreed by its members – and its success stories can be ascribed to a shared vision, effective structures and passionate people who make it happen.

sampro-logo2SAMPRO (South African Milk Producers’ Organisation) supports the balanced development of the secondary and primary dairy industries in South Africa in line with economic and social objectives of the South African society to the benefit of the dairy industry, the consumer and the South African society.

MPO logo The objective of the MPO is to supply supportive and related services to the milk producers of Southern Africa, ­including research, ­training and advice with regard to economical, financial, ­statistical, secretarial, ­administrative, inspective, ­accounting, ­public relations, industrial relations, health and educational services, regulation and legal services in relation to the primary dairy industry.
